Most car theft used to mean smashed windows and hot-wired ignitions. Keyless entry changed that. Now a car can be unlocked and started without the key ever leaving your pocket — which is convenient for you, and just as convenient for a thief with the right two-box relay setup.
How relay theft actually works
Your key fob is constantly listening for a low-power signal from your car. When it's close enough, it replies, and the car unlocks. Relay theft exploits this by using two devices: one held near your front door (or wherever your keys are sitting) to pick up that signal, and a second held near the car to relay it. To your car, it looks like the key is right there — even though it might be sitting on your kitchen counter 15 metres away.
This isn't rare or theoretical. It's one of the most common methods of car theft in Australia and the UK today, precisely because it leaves no forced-entry damage and can be done in under a minute.
Why a signal-blocking pouch works
A genuine Faraday pouch stops this at the source: if your key's signal can't get out, there's nothing for a relay device to pick up and repeat. Ironveil's pouches use a dual-layer copper-nickel shielding mesh, tested to block RFID, Bluetooth, and the relay frequencies (315–433MHz) that these devices actually target.

How to check it's working
